Background:
Coxhoe Primary, formerly known as Cornforth Lane Primary, was built in 1908. The buildings have been 'revitalised' in recent years and now offer 'an educational environment of a good standard, with spacious classrooms'. The school is situated on the outskirts of a growing village with playing fields, lawns, gardens and a conservation area. There are strong links with families and the local community which enrich the curriculum and 'provide an extra dimension to learning'. The school encourages pupils to participate in sports as a means of enjoyment and recreation. A range of extra-curricular activities is available depending on the time of year including football, netball, hockey, rugby, athletics, music, art, drama and cycling proficiency, judo, keyboards and piano. A computer club, a homework club and extra tuition are recent additions. Support is given to local and national charities including Barnados, National Children's Homes, NSPCC, Leukemia Research and Local Butterwicke Hospice. The school aims to consider the uniqueness and individual needs of its pupils by delivering a broad, balanced differentiated and relevant curriculum.
