Background:
Opened in 1971; has since almost quadrupled in size. Over the last decade, the school has focused on instigating a range of extra facilities to enhance the school, extra-curricular activities, and full 'wrap around' care. Clubs now include French, chess, football, short tennis, recorder, dance and drama, choir, agility classes and creative writing. The school established after-school care in 1990, running from 3.15pm to 5pm. In the same year, it opened its own privately-run kindergarten and now includes full day provision for nursery/kindergarten with supervised care at lunchtimes. It also runs a holiday club and an 'early bird club' which opens at 8am, to help working parents. Over recent years, the school has developed links with schools in Spain, France and Italy and has also run Spanish, French, Asian and Japanese themed weeks at the school. Describes its cultural diversity as 'very good'. Industrial links have been developed to help the children extend their understanding of industry, and the school also supports a range of charities. The school aims to enable every child to reach his or her potential in a caring and supportive environment.
