Background:
This 'happy and successful' school was formed in 1983 from the amalgamation of separate junior and infant schools. It is set in 'extensive' grounds 'at the heart of the local community' in the middle of a large housing estate, and is of 'quite modern design'. It is over-subscribed in most years. In recent years, the school has opened a 10-place resource base for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and a 20-place base for pupils with physical disabilities. The 'wide' range of extra-curricular activities offered includes sporting teams that play in local leagues. Many parents assist in the classroom and education is seen as a partnership between home and school. A 'very active' group of parents and friends organises fundraising and social events. Children are also encouraged to raise money for charity.
