Background:
Brierton School was formed by the amalgamation of others, initially as an 11-18 comprehensive. With the creation of a dedicated Sixth Form for the town the A Level students were transferred. Comprising two blocks, less than 200m apart, the school also has 'extensive' playing fields. Plans to improve sporting provision, for both the school and the local area, are in line with the schools 'community minded' approach. While sport is 'a strength' at the school it is also 'pleased to be known as a very caring school'. There has been effective work to improve attendance as well as academic achievement.
