Background:
Built in 1910, this village-based county primary school has strong community links. It is 'fortunate' to have large playing fields, tarmac areas and a school hall. It recently worked with a Teesdale artist in residence, and also participates in local sports events. Extra-curricular activities include football and netball teams which compete in inter-school matches, while touch rugby, kwick cricket, rounders and athletics are also on offer. Plays and concerts are occasionally produced. To 'reinforce or supplement their classroom learning and to broaden their experiences' the children are taken on visits to places of interest and, as another method of widening children's experience, experts in different fields, including theatre groups or puppet shows, are hired to talk and perform in the school.
