Startforth Morritt Memorial CofE Primary School is a small school situated within the village of Startforth, which is close to the market town of Barnard Castle. The original school building, which was built in 1877, now houses the infant's department and juniors are in a modern stone-built extension, which was opened in 1981. The school is set in landscaped grounds and has large playing fields. The school is noted for its drama, music and sports with after-school sessions including sports coaching, music, gardening and drama. The school has a caring Christian ethos, whilst also teaching the pupils about world faiths and cultures.
