Background:
Croft CE Primary School is a small, essentially rural, Beacon school built in 1975 and situated in its own extensive landscaped grounds in a small hamlet. It has four classrooms and a library, DT/art room and hall. As well as offering all statutory National Curriculum subjects, it teaches French to its years 5 and 6, and greatly values breadth and balance, holding Artsmark Gold, Activemark, International School and Basic Skills Quality Mark awards. It has an out of school club which opens each morning and evening until 06.00 pm and runs all the way through the holidays. The school offers a wide variety of craft, music, arts and sports activities which complement its football, cricket, netball, basketball, orienteering, rounders and rugby. Additionally, it has instrumental tuition in brass, woodwind, piano, string and voice, a religious based club with strong church links and a Swiss assistant every autumn. The school won School Achievement Awards for three consecutive years. The school fosters a caring and cooperative attitude in a safe but stimulating environment where every child is given the widest opportunity to achieve their potential.
