Background:
Witton-le-Wear is an LEA maintained primary school for children aged between four to 11 years of age. The school is set in attractive grounds with a playing field, playground and gardens. A large hall has recently been constructed close to the main school building. The library is housed at one end of the hall. The school hall is used for dance and drama, gymnastics and games skills. The school grounds are used for hockey, football, rugby, rounders, netball and basketball, as well as athletics in the warmer weather. Children now receive regular coaching in a range of games skills throughout the year with the opportunity to compete in locally organised festivals. The school aims to create a safe, happy, stimulating, well disciplined and purposeful environment.
