Framwellgate School Durham, which has been operating as a comprehensive since 1971, is situated in a very pleasant semi-rural position in the northern suburbs of the historic city of Durham. The school occupies a building opened in 1965 and four newer blocks opened in 1976. The school provides various facilities such as large hall with well-equipped stage, library/resource centre, gymnasium, sports hall, sixth form suite and a full range of specialist classrooms, laboratories and workshops. The school aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include football, netball, cricket, hockey and rugby. The school'strives to create a learning environment where all students are able to maximise their potential and develop as independent learners.
