Background:
Originally founded in 1894, St Cuthbert's was rebuilt on its present site near the Mill Inn in 1964. St Cuthbert's is now the west of the town, set in its own grounds, next to the church. These grounds include two play areas and a large field. Sports play an important part in the school with paricular success in swimming, football and netball. Lessons in the violin and guitar are available to older children. The school aims to develop in each individual 'an awareness of individual potential' and 'the opportunity to develop the individual personality as fully as possible'.
